What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. Music therapy improves the quality of life for persons who are well and meets the needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses. Music therapy interventions can be designed to:

  • promote wellness
  • manage stress
  • alleviate pain
  • express feelings
  • enhance memory
  • improve communication
  • promote physical rehabilitation

Music therapy provides a wonderful outlet for creativity and improvisation. Singing, chanting, drumming, lyric analysis, vocal and instrumental improvisation, as well as clinical songwriting and music video production provide avenues for healing and enhancement of mind, body, and spirit. Clinical songwriting stimulates creativity and self expression.

Music Therapy Sessions, Family Music Therapy, Group Sessions, Therapeutic Lessons, and Therapeutic Music Videos (Florida only).

June 14, 2008—Tempo! PA recital will be held at the Unitarian Fellowship of West Chester.

July 07, 2008—The 6 week summer semester of Music Together classes and music therapy groups will begin on Monday, July 7, 2008.
