Qualifications of a Board Certified Music Therapist
- Completion of an approved music therapy program from over 70 undergraduate or graduate colleges and universities.
- Completion of a closely supervised internship (minimum 900 hours).
- Passing grade on the certification exam.
- Must continue with further hours of study in order to keep certification current.
- Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT)
The certifying agency for Music Therapists.
Music therapists are also:
- Accomplished musicians.
- Trained in assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation of a variety of populations.
